Finland UK FI removals

Finnish destinations

Where the loads
actually go

Finland is a long country and it does not deliver as one place. Here is how it divides for a removals vehicle arriving from Britain — what the housing is like in each part, and what the onward leg from the ferry involves.

01

The capital region

Uusimaa — Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa and the ring

Where most loads end. Dense apartment stock with the whole delivery decided by the lift, the archway and the housing company rather than by distance. Reached direct by Baltic ferry, or along the E18 from Turku.

  • Helsinki
  • Espoo
  • Vantaa
  • Kauniainen
  • Kirkkonummi
  • Porvoo
  • Järvenpää
  • Tuusula
02

The south-west coast and archipelago

Varsinais-Suomi — Turku and out to the islands

A port of entry, so often the quickest destination to reach on this route. The city is compact and workable; the archipelago behind it runs out on a chain of bridges and connecting ferries with their own timetables and weight limits.

  • Turku
  • Naantali
  • Raisio
  • Kaarina
  • Salo
  • Pargas
  • Nagu
  • Uusikaupunki
03

The inland cities and lakeland

Pirkanmaa, Keski-Suomi, Päijät-Häme and around

Tampere, Jyväskylä, Lahti and the lake country. A substantial onward leg from either port, planned and crewed as its own stage. Housing runs from mill conversions to lakeside detached where the last few hundred metres decide the vehicle.

  • Tampere
  • Jyväskylä
  • Lahti
  • Hämeenlinna
  • Nokia
  • Kangasala
  • Mikkeli
  • Savonlinna
04

The east and the coast north

Pohjois-Savo, Pohjois-Karjala, Pohjanmaa

Kuopio, Joensuu, Lappeenranta on the eastern lakes; Vaasa, Pori and Kokkola up the western coast. Longer runs again, and in winter the ones where daylight and road conditions shape what a single delivery day can contain.

  • Kuopio
  • Joensuu
  • Lappeenranta
  • Kotka
  • Vaasa
  • Pori
  • Kokkola
  • Seinäjoki
05

The north and Lapland

Pohjois-Pohjanmaa and Lappi

Oulu and everything above it, up to Rovaniemi and beyond. Perfectly deliverable and scheduled as a genuine onward journey rather than an extension of anything. Winter here is not a footnote — it is the plan.

  • Oulu
  • Rovaniemi
  • Kemi
  • Tornio
  • Kajaani
  • Kuusamo

City pages

Four written up in detail

These are the destinations where the local detail genuinely changes the delivery — lift sizes, archway heights, housing-company rules, ferry connections — so each has a page of its own rather than a name swapped into a template.

The British end

Collections run from anywhere in mainland Britain. The cities that come up most are London, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Bristol — but the collection point is simply wherever your household currently is, and splitting it across two addresses is common enough to be routine. Say so in the brief and the route is costed from the start.

Getting into the country

There are two sensible ways in. A Baltic ferry from the German coast straight to Helsinki, or the longer drive up through Denmark and Sweden with a shorter crossing into Turku. Which we use depends on the destination, the sailing schedule and, in winter, ice conditions. It is a routing decision rather than something you need to choose.

What you do need in place before either is the documentation — see customs and paperwork. And if your dates can bend, a part-load is usually the better value on the longer inland and northern runs.
